World AIDS Day 1st December 2008 is observed with the World Wide Theme – Lead, Empower and Deliver. As part of the observance the following events are planned. An official function will be held at Ravindarabharathi on 1st December 2008, where in Govt. will be starting the following initiatives.

    ●  Launch of " Mee Nestam" IEC campaign which is aimed at providing district specific information on RTIs, STIs, condom usage, counseling, HIV testing, care        and support and ART treatment.

    ●  A booklet on the Legal Rights of PLHAs is being released to help the PLHAs to understand their legal rights as citizens of this country and help them to access        legal services through Legal aid cells in the districts.

    ●  Under Public Private Partnership, Integrated Counseling and Testing Centres will be started in Private Nursing Homes and Hospitals which would follow NACO        protocols. APSACS will provide the necessary testing kits and training to the doctors and other health care providers.

    ●  1200 STD practitioners are franchised under Public Private Partnership in association with Population Services International.
